    How to bill the client

Not sure where to post this post but here goes,

I'm thinking of starting to advertise in a local paper as a Multimedia specialist.
    Website creation
    CD/DVD Duplication
    Promotiol CD'S
    Photo restoration
    etc.

I have a question as to when a client asks for a website how do you work out the payment of the web address and hosting for that website.

Do you host the websites on one host and bill the clients every year?

Also the web address, do you bill the client every year for the subscription.?
or is it included in the end price.

What are your approaches to these areas.

    thanks

id say if they are willing to barter the webhosting costs the first born child.

otherwise any number of hookers would be acceptable

Most of our sites is hosted at one place. They bill us, we bill the client. The hosting payment is typically specified in your contract (monthly, quarterly or yearly) - payment from the client is by debit order.

The domain registration cost is specified in our contracts, as well as the yearly renewal fee. Also, when showing off a website to client you always put it on a server under your complete control - when everything is paid up, then a site goes live.

Thanks thats helped, i just need to see if my host (Bluehost) have sufficient resources for me to add extra websites to my account.
This also applies to my domain name registration account (Godaddy).

What type of info is included within a contract for this type of work, i guess it is essential to have a contract written up before seeing a client.

depends on how web savvy the client is. For some of the more ignorant clients i'll factor in the price and tell them hosting for 1 year is part of the package deal!

    others I bill monthly.

yeah but billing monthly aint gonna cost much for the client as the domain and host is relatively cheap, be like £5 a month.

We've started quoting 2 prices for a website. 1 Long and painful, and a second one where the client gets a discount if they deliver all the content within 2 weeks. Trust me, it's the best thing you can ever do.

You should also offer an option for your clients to pay with funny money from the local gentlemen's club.
