Allura: OBSESSION. 10mb. Play now!
I should have made this post much sooner as I've had this game completed for a few weeks now -- however, there's lots of nasty bugs so I would like to tell them to you right now before you get playing
- If you die, reload Internet Explorer. Going back after the Game Over screen will give a bit of trouble.
- If you're stuck in a wall, reload Internet Explorer. You're screwed. =P
- By pressing "E", you release a spell that repels the undead. Please remember that.
- During the beginning cutscene, the background image will move towards the right. That's not supposed to happen. Infact, I messed it up and forgot to fix it before I uploaded. Sorry!. X_X
It's a short game for a Flash class of mine -- I'm sure some of you are aware of some posts I made in this forum. The game is roughly 5-10 minutes I suppose. The flash game is actually based on an actual RPG I'm creating and basically, I just tried to replicate it's engine however this is an Action-RPG so some things are different.
Enjoy!

When you know are.
Man, this game looks cool but it's unplayable.
Whenever you get hit you go through a wall and get stuck, so I end up having to restart everytime I get attacked. Also, you die too quickly. Either more health, or you need to space out how long it takes for you to get hit again after you get hit.
When you restart after dying, I always respawn inside of a wall without any of the first enemies on the screen.

nice intro, looks good and as said before quite not playable

as i wasn't able to go past the first room i can't say much about the gameplay.
~ i know this might be a little late to ask, but WHY is a game that's 5-10 min long 10mb big?
even though i'm on a fast connection, it took ages to load.
you should try to reduce filesize (or maybe split the game up into dif. parts)
anyway, i'll try it again later ... <olli/>

I am on a t1 line took me a while to download it.
intro is way too long, you should add a skip button to it. In Saga frontier they had the similar intro but there you could hit enter to skip most of it.
also intro lags this work computer a lot and this thing is 900 mhz 512 ram, and some average video card.
his movement is weird, he doesnt move if you just move him little bit. Character goes back to original position.
I died kind of fast not sure how exactly just out of nowhere.
Too many bugs made this unplayable.
Graphically this game is awesome, my mspaint editor will never stand a close match. But gameplay is unbearable.

It needs to start out easier in my opinion. Too much too soon. I need to have invested more than 5 seconds time in playing it and feel like i've got somewhere before I get killed, or I will have a very strong urge to just close it and forget about it. Make it so that by the time I face something dangerous, I've had the moves explained and had a little practice using them.
Also, Zelda had the moment of flashing invincibility after taking a hit for a reason, so that having health meant more than an extra 0.1 milliseconds before dying.
Sorry if I'm being a bit negative. I wouldn't be so critical if i didn't like it. Graphically, and atmospherically its very nice indeed.

Penleeki, I don't think you're being too negative at all.
My only comment which is different from what everyone else said, is that I find there are too many keys. Maybe a dodge button which could be held down and used in conjunction with the arrow keys would make life a lot easier.

I appreciate your critcism, folks. Just a few things you might want to know, this is my first Flash game I've made and it is for a Flash game assignment for school and the game had to be made in a short time frame where I had 0 experience with actionscripting. I realize there's several gameplay issues that should be resolved as well.
Penleeki: If somebody had reminded me about the temporary invincibility in Zelda, I would have definitely implemented that before submitting it. Very good suggestion.
When I find time I'll revamp the engine to eliminate the bugs and re-release it.
The introduction does have a skip button. Look at the top-right.

I actually have one question about your game. How did you make the menu. When you click on one of the menus, the other old menu moves away.
