Bl**** Netscape
Developed this which is an interesting combination of Flash variables from a database and Dhtml.
But it only works on IE any genius out there? Who can help with my problem.
With Dhtml:

Hi,
well, you should not call software **** but develop compatible in the first place
Honestly, both versions are not that impressive on my computer - although I really like the idea.
a) there is a huge gap at the top - about three banners high. Probobly using the table without the absolute div's could work better
b) when you scroll, these things disappear and later reappear - probably placing them inside html borders would not create the sudden feeling that the page is broken but the expectation that the frame will soon be filled again.
While this effect probably does not happen in IE, I recall that I saw an even worse scrolling effect recently ... only on that browser
You can probably solve these problems altogether by creating a pure flash presentation, and replacing the scrolling with next / prev buttons. The Stage object in flash helps to determine the available size of the window, and swapdepths() can ensure that the current object is really on top
BTW: if you view this stuff on a system with player 6 and no auto-update, you will see just the text portion but no images

I assume you are not aN IE fan.
In reality 98% of hits are still IE.
On IE it works perfectly.... I thought I had the answer.
On Nescape and Fox it just does not work.
The ultimate flash file reacts but all the others do not.
It is because the swf is the same file with different variables, N7 simply does not like it.
The original design is controlled by the script and a Div is required for the id ref.
True the table version does not need it.
Originally I wanted to keep it outside the html as an add on at the bottom hence I used the Dhtml mode.
Thanks though
Cheers.

From http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/...61305X,00.asp:
Firefox's market share reached 8 percent in May, up from 7.38 percent in April, while IE's slice of the pie shrunk a bit to 87.23 percent, down 0.77 percent, according to a statement released Wednesday by NetApplications.com, an Aliso Viejo, California, maker of applications for monitoring and measuring Web site usage.
Although IE's share is colossal, Firefox is consistently increasing its share by between 0.5 percent and 1 percent from month to month.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.
If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done ...

Thanks for that.
No solution out there .....obviously for the 'one day file'.
I have since read that Flash variables from html are limited to 60k which could also be a problem with excessive information.
Cheers everyone.
