    Pneumothorax kicked my ass, twice

Friday a week ago my lung collapsed again, this time forcing me to undergo a procedure known as a pleurodysia(sp?). This hurt more than you can possibly imagine. What they did was inject a solution of chalk and saline water between my ribs and my lung, thus forcing a gigantic sterile pneumonia all across the surface of my left lung. This created scar tissue across my lung, effectively thickening my lung wall about threefold.

Anyways, the morfine was soothing, the nurses were hot, and the food was disgusting. Hello kids!
    hello.

Sounds like whent through an awful ordeal and i hope you get better soon but second hand smoke causes this kind of crap for others. Who choose not to smoke.

Quitting smoking was actually pretty easy, but that was mostly because I was drugged up during the time it takes to lose the physical addiction.

Even though I smoked for a couple of years my lung was in great condition. They performed an endoscopy prior to inserting the chest drain, and it looked pretty and pink, without any trace of tar or smoke damage. So I doubt that second hand smoke causes any significant damage.

I have been trying to stop since my dad died from lung cancer a while back.

Why should we who have enjoyed some form of education "suffer" because you're too retarded to use decent spelling and grammar?

Why should we smokers (or former smokers) "suffer" from your incredible and completely out of place hyperboles?

Oh, and now that we're on the subject of suffering, why is it that you non-smokers (and forgive me for my generous generalisation) look for every single occasion to rub in the fact that smoking kills?

Are you really that concerned with the health of your fellow citizens? Or is it so that, and I think this is the case, you boost your own ego by making sure everyone knows you don't smoke? Don't get me wrong here -- if you don't smoke, all the more credit to you -- but don't you think smokers know they're doing something potentially fatal?

I'm going to present you with a word that may puzzle you for a few moments. It's a word that, once you understand it's meaning, may relieve you from all your so-called "suffering". That word is compassion. Imagine for a moment that you are addicted to nicotine. Or, and this may be just a crazy far-fetched idea, that you actually like the smell and taste of tobacco smoke. How should a constant barrage of insults and guilt-inducing comments help you quit? If you're really that concerned with your fellow humans, give them some helpful advice instead of insulting them.

why should us non smokers suffer cause ur to weak to quit?
WOW! Good job! You've just succesfully insulted a portion of the population that feels bad about themselves everytime they spark one up. NICE ONE! Have you ever considered doing stand-up? You're material is SO FRESH!!!

that fine but whys that my problem
This one just takes the cake. Random25 tells us his father died from lung cancer which has motivated him to stop smoking (a very noble goal, though a very hard one to achieve) and you reply with this? You are a total and complete tool. I bet you wear purple polo-shirts with the collar popped, drive a Hummer, use too much "product" in your hair, listen to Green Day because it makes you "unique", drink red-bull with vodka, go out every friday and saturday night to "score some chicks", but go home every night empty-handed. Don't you have some weights to lift to cultivate your man-boobs instead of bashing on smokers?

There. I feel much better now.

damn son. you've been through a lot lately.

and quitting... it's something easy if you never start. but if you had lost somebody that close to you due to it... surprised that you didn't stop almost immediately.

Am at the 24 hour mark (give or take) of quitting.

For the several-eth time... <done this before and been off the butts for three to six months at a time> smokers who have quit or are doing it get what I mean.

Any non-smoker with a smarta$$ comment can be force fed several thousand pounds of ashtray leavings by any sympathetic smoker or former smoker...

Don't you just want to shove these self-rightious idiots gnards down their throats???

So I'm mostly delusional... inhale deeply if I pass someone smoking on the street... and all that.

Wish you the best ... If your under 30-35 wooter it's probably not the heavenly butts, if over that age ... well maybe ... but quitting is good for everyone... even that horrid chewing gum for the rest of your life is a hundred times as healthy as the butts.... Damn it!... Damn It!! Damn IT!!!
