How can you find out how many frames an imported sound has?

    Hi,

I have imported a fairly large MP3 file into a Flash movie & it occupies a single frame on the timeline. I have figured out that if I want to see the Wave pattern for the sound, in other words see a graphical representation of the entire imported file I have to put a keyframe way out in the 300's & hope that the files graphical representation is not bigger than this otherwise I have to repeat the process until the end of the file is reached.

I need to see a graphical representation, as I need to synchronize animation to the sound

Anyone know how I can find out how many frames an imported MP3 contains?
You will know everything when you know you never will.

When you import it, double click it in the library. The popup will show the duration in seconds and tenths of a second. Multiply by the frame rate of the movie.

But the only way to sync to animation is to see the whole length of it and set the Sync dropdown to Stream. When set to stream, it doesn't matter where the sound is, if the timeline stops, the sound stops. so make the animation the same length as the sound, or chop the sound layer to match the length of the animation if it's longer. Or, just let it overrun the animation, when it stops, the sound stops.
