[DISC] Promoting your Game - Reasons and Method
Let face it, every once in awhile, FKG has a post with people looking to promote their game(s), and wonder where they can go to do that.
My question for everyone is this: do you have a reason why you are promoting your game(s)? To get more people to play your game, get more traffic to your site, boast your mad programming skills, world domination?
My second question is what methods have you used or plan on using? Pimping on Flash Kit Games and other messageboards, posting on popular sites like Newgrounds.com, good link sites like Jayisgames, game "sponsership" portals, or something else different (like making a game for some local band you like)?
With that in mind, please post why you want to promote your game(s) (if you have ever thought about it) and the method you have used or plan to you.

You can add me to AIM for chatting.I also have other game i need help with i cahnged script from other game and combined script with turoial but gives always error. It says flash 4 syntax deprecated but i have flash mx. i can upload exe if you want to see.

In my case
If I put a game here (and I haven't) is just because I want to read comments adn improve my games
For self promoting well, I never think on that, I sell directy to the clients and my games webpage is for clients only, but everyone can play there, nowbody knows it
Maybe in the future I will put a game in "miniclip" or "newgrounds" just to show my clients that I have games in games portals
well, thats what I think

All of my games have been sponsored, which pays pretty well (well, not making-me-rich well, but still). For promotion, I tend to just submit to newgrounds and a few other portals, and other sites tend to pick them up soon. Addictinggames.com is a site that brings in loads of traffic, and they always ask before featuring my games, which is nice.

everyone wants recognition for their hard work and so do I plus it could land you a job or some fast cash.
i'm a big fan of opensource as are many others, i love to learn off other peoples work and get inspiration from different games i've seen, when i post up a game hopefully i'm giving some inspiration to other people and that really warms the cockels of the heart

I have usually mailed to Jay. Not only do you get promotion if its reviewed there, but I mostly like the fact that Jay has honest reviews. I mean there are loads of sites where every game has "superior gameplay", "never before seen graphics" and "hours of fun for whole family", but those sites are all selling the games and everyone knows the reviews are only for advertising. The fact that Jay is not trying to sell anything to visitors is quite unique and getting honest review for free is very important for developers.
