detecting preloaders

I've recently built a site that has an opening sequence with a loader followed by a single movie clip symbol that holds most of the remainder of my site. I'm wondering how or if i can add preloaders in the movie clip to shorten the load time in the beginning sequence. take a look at www.studiovh.com to see what i mean.

No, it doesn't work that way. Any movie clip inside your main movie is already loaded. You can't break up loading, once it starts, it continues till it's all loaded.
