    [Beat]Vector Wars Please Test.

    Hi flash folks,

Just asking if you test this game out for me.
No instructions as yet. Just move the ship about with the mouse.
To finish level you need to collect all the power pills on screen.

Is it still fast and smooth on your PC/Mac as it is with mine?
    Sound ok?
    Any Bugs you have found?
What do you think so far? How to improve?

    Link is here...

    Thanks

    Ivorsmallun...

i like the smooth transition of the title 'level finsihed' / 'game over' that blends in- would be even nicer if the next level had a nice transition effect aswell.

When I finished a level it takes imo. to much time intil the title level finished appears- id like it much faster there.
Use a better typo- that times roman font is just uber ugly,- check site such as
    http://www.dafont.com/ for free fonts.

    some ideas to implent:
    - be able to drop mines or blockable elements for the enemies- so that the gameplay gets more interesting
    - flag/ order system to reach points in a specific order (dunno if this acutally is more fun)
    - bonus elements like a element to collect that will manipulate bots (gravity, freeze, inverse movement,...)

    Thanks renderhjs,

It's nice to know it's running smooth and fast on your machine.
I was going to add some nice transitions to the game. Still thinking what would suit (Plenty of time to think).
There is only 11 levels as yet. More to come. How far did you get.
Levels with the rocks. Look out for a faint craft. It will send you back 2 levels. Is it too faint...
    Adding better font soon...

About the speed. I can crank it up and make it alot faster, which i have done and will do in later levels...

    Thanks,

    Ivorsmallun...

got into level 4,- was way to busy with finding out what happens when and how the playable thing gets hit.
About performance,- i think its ok I have a 700 Mhz old computer here and it runs ~ 20-26 fps - thats at least what my impression is. But please work on the typo its really ugly

I think it'd be better if you'd have less enemies and make them move faster.

IMO the game would become to easy. I'll stick with the format for awhile...
Is the game running smooth and the sound sounds right...

I thought it was interesting, but it is kinda easy to cheat : by letting the ship run on the limit of the game window, and moving the mouse off-game area and re-entering on the opposite side, you can make your ship "wrap", hence making the game much easier than intended ...

hmm, i dont much like how the music skips whenever it loops, it's also a fairly simple game, but it runs very fast

and that ship is too faint, in fact, it's invisible

was nice and smooth for me.

I would make better use of distinct colors to differentiate between "good" and "bad".

An interesting font to use might be "Atari Vector"

    It's me again,

Solved the warping from side to side. If you try it you will lose shields.
    Font has been changed.
Changed the look of the background as you advance further into the game...
The ship if you get that far can now be seen.

    Things still to do...
Still trying to sort the music from skipping when it loops.
End of each level it will show you where you have been on a map and where you need to go, if you know what i mean..

Anyway i'll carry on as i'm enjoying myself at the moment.

Let me know guys what you think so far...

renderhjs what do you mean by a wow fan?

wow stands for World of Warcraft, a game I can't afford to play, but still know of do to it's popularity. a suggestion for the looping problem, instead of having a layer containing the sound, make it play after a certain amount of time has passed, that way the beggining will blend with the end, i was thinking about using this to fix my loop problem, but i may not need it as i have some cool extra lightning sounds, though technically lightning doesnt make sound, technically sound doesn't exist

im liking the game much better now with the visible ship, though you really didnt fix the warp problem, as you can simply right-click, try making it kill you if you move too fast by comparing the position of your craft before and after it moves

    fscommand ("showmenu", false);
disables most of the right click commands, leaving only things like about and settings.

    I like it, but...

I don{t know about the ramdom positions, what about see the ship in the middle and start each level touching the ship, so you never start in another position or touching an enemy

Just 1% of game to finish. How does it look now. How does it run. Found any bugs that i don't know about. Let me know what level you reach so i can see if it's to hard to early. (30 levels)...
Disabled the right mouse Click( Well if you try to right click you lose).
scheletro[B] to answer your last question. you have a 2 second shield around your craft so nothing can touch you.

The new test link to the game is....

The game will be on here for a couple of days for testing.
    Thanks

the word 'verlon' in the main title is almost not readable- same for the line 'play the game' because of the white font and the white clouds on the earth photo.

the 'how to play' section hurts my eyes
    - the font isn´t a body text font- meaning it was designed for headlines or short sentences not for a long text. Its very hard to follow each new line. The grid in the background makes it even harder to read with the font
    - the red (RGB 255 red & blue) underlines really hurt my eyes. How about setting the font in a different color and leave the underline away?

other than those nothing to complain about here,- nice game
