Holy crap that's awesome. I thought the rocks and logs in northern Jersey were enough to deal with, that course is insane.

I haven't gone mountain biking since someone stole my Jamis out of my garage, I need to get back into it.

I was given a mtb for Christmas. Sweet build, hard tail, which I wanted for starts. I can't wait to hit some trails, but a trail like that . . . I think I may shat myself lol.
How do you like your Jamis.
I have a Jamis Ventura road bike and have no complaints. Rides quick and smooth and the only adjustments I have had to make are do to the cold weather shrinking my cables.

I've never ridden a full-suspension bike beyond a test spin in the parking lot, so I really can't compare it.

The Jamis seemed like a good bang for the buck, but I had a lot of with the brake and derailleur cables slipping, and the rear brake caliper. (Avid discs, mid-to low end model from 2-3 years ago.) Frame was solid but the whole damn thing weighed in just over 30lbs. The geometry didn't lend itself to climbing so well. and there's a LOT of it where I ride. Destroyed like 3-4 rear derailleur hangers just on logs too. It was a Durango or Durango SX, around $600 at the time. I shouldn't have used it stock, should've replaced a few components from the get-go. Overall, if you're not buying a higher-end model from them, I'd look somewhere else. If I get back into it I may get a Kona, Subby loves his.

I actually like the idea of a personal build better. Just due to the work you have to keep putting into them. More you know know the less you pay . . . a bike shoppe Plus if you look hard you can get some really good prices on components so it is just cheaper in the end.
I am thinking the build that I was given is pretty solid for a beginner bike, yet my opinion will probably change with time lol
