What is this effect called?
You can see a perfect example at this link http://www.lovemyflash.com/layouts/142.html and scroll down to the preview you'll see a symbol that looks like its a pulsing red glow around it.
Does anyone know what this is called? I would love to find a tutorial on how to do it. I tried taking an image, throwing a glow on it from ps, and then trying to tween the images together but that didn't work like I thought it would. Or at all really :/
Does anyone have an idea of how this works? Thanks so much

Done it.
I thought this was the noob section.
Oh well I'll try to find out I like to find things out.
EDIT: Wow that was quick I found out it's very simple really
first get your image that you want the effect to go on.
second make a new layer (it helps to label frames correctly so something like image for the first and effect for the cecond this'll make it much clearer when you go on to really hard effects and need like 10 layers) in this layer make a normal ball with the oval tool.
Thirdly select your ball and then in the top of the window click on modify->shape->convert lines to fills. Now youv made it possible for the ball to work with this effect.(your ball shouldn't look any different if your thinking you've done it wrong you aint..
fourthly go back to modify->shape but this time click on soften fill edges.(make sure your still sleceting the ball still) Now you have a little menu come up in the list type distance 50 PX and number of steps as 50.(keep going higher with the number to make it look better but remember you don't want lag.)
Now you just need to animate it going in and out or it's faster to tween ( if you don't know how to tween tell me or someone else and I'll say how)
Note: if your using a quite complicated shape, let's say an anchor you would need to draw out the anchor shape and use the effect. try not to use too complicted effects or this effect will go totally wrong.

Hah well believe it or not I'm trying to make it work on a complicated shape. You can see my actionscript and a link to the animation here:
