Well? How do you cope with stress? Jog with your dog? Take it out on your car? Say a few 'ohms' and call it meditation?

I was talkin' with G last night and he was sort of chuckling at a few things I'd said/done on a few boards as of late ... I said it's how stress manifests itself in me when it's really bad ... I sort of become passive/aggressive. I call people an Ass, which I normally wouldn't do (sorry Aversion ) - like some sort of bizarre virtual tourette's syndrome ... My remarks become a little more on edge, etc. I don't, however, mispronounce words.

    How do you cope?

Note: If you do illegal things, I will report you to the police, so don't post them here. If you want to do illegal things, I will report you to the American Psychiatric Association, so don't post them here

sleep is usually a good stress-relief, but then work against stress is always an option too. sort of cure the stress with it's biggest opponent: more stress.

I've invested in a punchbag recently and while I've yet to actually put it up and use it, the knowledge that it's only a couple minutes drilling in the ceiling to fit it has lowered my stress levels massively.

At work I'm opting for a more laissez faire approach by simply ignoring everyone and everything I should be doing thus reducing stress

<nods head> I've tried that ... very effective ... and since I have a hearing problem, makes it all the easier ~ When someone mentions 'why didn't I such and such' I can just say, Oh - I didn't hear you ... and they know there's a real possibility I didn't hear them. Except lately ... because I do have a hearing problem, I don't usually hear what's being said - only what I think is being said ... and lately it's all vulgar. Very embarrassing.

i either do something very peaceful (gardening or hiking), or go to the other extreme and do something intense (skating or mountain biking). either way i always feel better.

jamble - a punchbag would be nice...

kickboxing or yoga depending on how stressed I am. Writing rude letters to companies that have pi**ed me off in some small way is also a great way of venting my anger.

    Where can I get one?

Anyway, to relieve stress I went for jogs/walks and it was good. It helped clear my mind. Also listening to music, reading and sleeping works.

Play with my cat, or go outside and run as far as I can, as fast as I can.

To handle my stress (which is extremely high at the moment due to my current work situation), I let my hair go rapidly grey, get minimal sleep and yell at people a lot. That's how I cope! (no joke unfortunately, time for a holiday)

Lan, I honestly stress about everything. I let it accumulate then I normally go do something that will just get it all out of my system.

    That's not healthy, I know.

I've also been finding other ways. I've picked up a brush again... got a couple of paintings out. I drive around, sight see. I've given my old furniture, went out bought some new clothes, and donated more time to the needy - tutoring math, and giving the aformentioned old furniture and clothes to the needy.

I've travelled less, actually. Normally, when stressed, I go somewhere I've never been. One of the most relaxing trips I took was up to Nova Scotia. Went deep-sea fishing, saw two swordfish finning in the sun pacing with the boat. it was awesome.

I sketch out ideas, design something - but never seem to save, play some music - ever sung a song if Elmer Fudd sang it? You'll laugh... or do my usual... watch Cartoon Network. It's entertainment that requires me not to think.

If I've had a REAL bad time... I just call the nieces, and they tell me every detail of their day, their ideas and whims, what not. It's so cool to listen to them.

and when real stressed, I just terrorize the boards here at FK. per usual

To relieve stress I run... do yoga... colour in a colouring book!!

But the biggest stress reliever is playing with my son, who is 14 months old. I crawl around on the floor with him, chase him, play with those big lego blocks, sing to him, make funny animal noises, etc.

Having a kid means you get to be one any time you want!

But it also means that I don't come home from working on a computer all day and then sit in front of a computer at home too.

    Which is really, really nice.

hmmm .. good topic -Id be interested in seeing what others do to cope with stress..

I'm an insomniac and when im stressed i just dont sleep at all , not even during the day. Music helps me a lot though its hard to really blast your stereo at 3 am and yell so i just listen to some wierd CDs i bought from a health shop (whales singing, waves crashing the usual new age stuff )

During the week i sometimes play Nirvana when i get out of bed at around 10am to go to work -- It gets me in that great mood and frame of mind and prepares me mentally for the day ahead (then again thats cos i hate my work rather than stress)

On the positive side lol, i find yoga and especially Hatha yoga which is bit more dynamic very good for me, it relaxes me and even helps me sleep.

In the summer , its less of a prob cos i'm more active, the weather is good and i rollerblade a lot or go swimming and a sauna and enjoy the sun much more in general

But i think keeping active is the key .... the worse ive ever done during some unreal deadlines earlier this year was to skateboard inside my flat at around 1am cos i was feeling too hyperactive
