movieplayers embedded in Flash ,simulation HOW?

I came across this site:

I was astonished to see what looked like Quicktime and Realmedia players embedded in Flash!!

>place >virtual tour
a Quicktime VR movies

>gallery >stream
streaming Realmedia movies

I enlarged the popup and had a look in the source; it's all done with javascripts.
This effect/ technique is what I have been looking for for months.
Now I don't know much about javascripts and wanted to ask you if there was someone who could help me explaning how this is done...
It looks like some kind of (transparant) hidden pages/layers, containing the players, who lay on top of the .swf file?
And those pages show up when triggering the .swf?

I would love to learn about this technique, I'm so exited!
