pretty please help me! mask gone awry - .fla included.

ok, i've attached a small .fla that i made of only the relevant parts of my file, and a pretty decent description of the problem i am having... i really really hope someone can help me, as i'm pretty stuck.

the relevant part of my file is set up as follows:
MC1->MC2->MC3. MC3 is broken apart text that rolls up into a horizontal gray bar that is contained in MC2 when a button elsewhere in my file is rolled over. MC1 makes MC2 (the bar plus the text) roll up into a window (not relevant here). so basically, you roll over the window, and MC1 tells MC2 to move up into the window. then you roll onto a button inside the window, and MC2 tells MC3 (text) to roll up into my nice newly rolled in gray bar. HERES THE PROBLEM.... MC1 contains a mask on a layer above MC2 which is the same shape as the bar inside MC2, so that MC2 and MC1 will not be visible until they are in position. and for some reason that i really do not understand at all, the text in MC3 will NOT show up if the mask is engaged, but the bar in MC2 shows up exactly how i want it. the reason this does not make sense to me is that MC3 (the text that doesnt appear) is nested inside MC2, which is nested inside MC3, under the mask. why does my mask in MC1 kill my text? i just dont understand. and by the way i do need the mask to be where it is, i cant just tack it onto the window, becuase the window in my real file is draggable and all of that. it needs to have the mask nested in there.

huge thanks to whomever helps me!!
