Ok so I've built websites before in flash, and while my methods aren't exactly great they all worked perfectly.
My trouble right now is adding actionscripts to buttons that jump to another frame and stop there.

For example, in frame 1 there is a stop() command, in another layer of frame 1 were the button lives I have added onrelease gotoandstop (5) where frame 5 is a submenu on a separate layer.

I have tried and tried but I always get "mouse events blah blah only for buttons" etc. Its stupid. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
