I am still having problems exporting illustrator 10 files to flash. I have already tried exporting the files in swf, bmp, and gif format. Someone posted that I should covert them to .eps format, but that is not an option within illustrator 10. If someone could give me the format that would allow me to open and manipulate illustrator 10 files in flash, I would greatly appreciate it.

Make sure you save it as an .ai v4.0 or lower file.
Otherwise it won't open in flash.

    If you care :

I appreciate the reply. I have another question though. I am a illustrator newb and I am not exactly sure how to convert the files to ai 4.0. How do I go about doing this?

    Flashwriter

If I understand it right, Macromedia has just come out with a program called Flashwriter that will solve your problem. You can download it from the Macromedia web site.

When you save your file in Illustrator, it automatically becomes an .ai file, unless you tell it otherwise.

You don't export the file as an .eps, Illustrator gives you the option to save it as an .eps.

You have to click on the drop-down menu where it lists the file types...

I've been working in Multi-media and Graphic Design for years now... An .eps file is a common format for Illustrator. An Illustrator EPS file is automatically a vectored file, unless it has a .tif, or some similar rastered file placed in it.

I don't currently have Illustrator 10, but I can't believe it wouldn't give you the option to save it as an .eps. In print, we require those smaller vectored files such as .eps files to keep our printing jobs smaller...

When you save your work in Illustrator it gives you the option as to which version you'd like to back save it to.

It sounds like you're not saving your work properly... or you'd know this!
