play ( on Roll over) slow down and pause (on Roll out) - movie clip or swf?

Im building an interactive element for part of a movie player. Im going to be using thumbnails with small previews of video playing. Is there any way that I could control the speed when the user rolls over the thumbnail? as you roll over the thumbnail plays, as you roll out the thumbnail slows down and pauses?

any ideas on this anyone?
