    MC in wrong place

    Hi guys,

This is probably due to something very simple that I'm overlooking, but I can't figure it out, so hopefully one of you can point me in the right direction.

I have an SWF file that I'm importing from 3DS Max (using the swift 3D plug-in)into Flash CS5 Pro. Once it's imported, it's automatically added as a movie clip, I then drag it onto my stage and goto the properties rollout and assign an instance name to it.

It looks all fine in on the stage, but as soon as I preview the file, it's offset to where it should be - always down and to the right.

I thought about this for a while and then decided to trace the x and y co-ordinates of the mc, and according to the trace, it's where it should be - so I setup a static symbol made in flash at the same co-ordinates, and that stays exactly where I put it when I run the preview, but the imported mc is still down and to the right, even though the co-ordinates for both objects are the same thing.

Anyone know how I can get around this?

maybe your movieclip and your static symbol are in different coordinate spaces? meaning they don't share the same parent. try to trace (mymovieclip.parent == staticSymbol.parent)

Sorry, I have no idea about this, but trace it's z, and also check the "3d position and view" properties of the movieclip.

Have you thought about just manually going into the movieclip from the 3ds Max export and changing its' origin to (0,0)?

What exactly do you mean? Sorry, but I'm a n00b to Flash (as Bluemagica would be able to tell you)

If you're talking about hte registration point - then I've set it to be the middle of the MC, however that didn't seem to do anything at all either
