I am new flash. I am making a menu, when you click on an Icon it will open a rectangular box. Instead of a solid color in the box, I would like to use a color but would like it to be semi transparent so I can see the background beneath it. Can someone tell me how to accomplish this?

Thanks
Michael

click on the box and convert it into a symbol (F8 or insert>convert to symbol), click on the box again and go to properties and select 'alpha' from the colour drop down menu. Set the alpha to about 50 on the scale (the lower the number the more transparent)

Hope that helped
