Nyc

I went to NYC this past weekend with my girlfriend for a mini vacation (Thursday thru Sunday). It was a great time

Our main purpose was to see a live taping of the Daily Show with John Stewart and decided to stay a few extra days. For the majority of the time we were there, we walked around NYC and just enjoyed the good weather. We stayed at a BRAND NEW hotel right at Rockefeller Center. I think we were the first people to ever stay in the room as they had just opened last week.

I tried Brazilian food for the first time and i have to say i was very suprised and happy by how good it was. I think the restaurant was called Brazil Grill and not too far from Times Square.

Seeing i had a few months to plan (since Valentine's Day) ...i decided this was the place to 'pop' the question. I did it at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park and it couldn't have been a better day for it. It was 80 degrees, sunny with a lot of people around. And right before i asked her a saxaphonist and cellist both started playing. It couldn't have been better.

Anyhoo, here's some photos from the trip...
View from the Hotel Room to St. Patrick's Cathedral:

View from the Museum of Modern Art to their sculpture garden and the adjacent buildings:

The view in front right before i asked:

The View behind us right before i asked:

Immediately after she said yes:

Congratulations! That's wonderful!

The lake seems so much quieter back in January. My dad and I must have sat on the same seats!

Awesome! Congrats! I was watching the Daily Show the other day and was wondering when this was supposed to happen. I knew it was supposed to be soon, but never got around to revisiting the thread.

I'll never watch the Daily Show the same way again. It's so odd to see the show live.

At the end of the shwo when he's talking to Steven Colbert...he's not actually talking to him. Colbert has already taped his part and Stewart is just filling in the gaps where Colbert isn't talking.

I was very impressed wiht John Stewart though. The entire show was taped in one take. No editing, no re-do's the whole show is taped in 30 minutes exactly with the commercial breaks in the same exact spots.

Plus the set was completely different than what you'd expect from seeing it on TV. It's hard to explain, but to be honest, TV magic is pretty damned cool.

From that angle i can see where you see that, but it's just a standard round cut, 3/4 caret, 70 point, F rated (almost flawless)...and no not from Tiffany's it's from a local jeweler.

i'm at about 95% yes right now. The intial figure that i posted here about the bonus was completely wrong...i should have known it was too good to be what i thought it was. I misunderstood the owner when he gave me the number...he was talking about revenue...not profit. So that bonus was brought down to about an 1/8 of what i thought it was.

But, now that i've got a wedding to plan and am in debt from the ring, i think i'm going to take it and see how it works out for a couple years. I've still got some negotiating to do. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks! She loves it and all her co-workers/friends did too...that's almost more important than her liking it

Nice one, mang. Sounds like you made a perfect memory for her.

Oh yeah, and thanks for the "Future Mrs. Lefteye" shoppage material...
