Swf playing slo mo on line?
I have a web banner that contains a 12 sec video clip - with text fading in and out at the appropriate times, to the right of it, outside of the video portion of the banner. I've uploaded the flv, swf, html files to server.
So when I preview my flash file in Flash Pro 8, the timing is fine between the video clip and when the text fades up and fades out - but when I publish the file and post it on line - the text seems to delay and fade out later than it should, while the video clip is fine and plays as it should, normal speed. Seems as though the swf is playing at slower speed though the video clip is normal speed - how is this happening and what to do. I have the same problem with another banner where there is an animated lava lamp (all Flash animation) and the text seems to "play" slower on line than when I previewed it in Flash? Is this possible? What to do? Thank you KB |

Would help to see an example. It may be your frames per seconds. What do you have it set at?

They're both at 30 fps as is the video, flv file...I'm viewing this on latest Tiger/Safari and Firefox, MAC powerbook G4 at 1 GHz - maybe that's too slow?...the flv file for the video is 532K (unfortunately) and the swf is 78k.
http://www.enhancedwireless.net/test.shtml this a draft, work in progress - refresh to see both banners. Both are at 30 fps. - I know they play slower, since I know where I positioned the text, you'll have a tougher time, but - when you the see crystals growing video, by the time it's finished the last text line - "cell towers" - should also be up and finished...but on my computer, the text comes up late and doesn't finish until seconds after the video finishes. Clear as mud? See what you think. KB |

Okay another questions. The crystal video is playing on a completely different timeline than the text....I am assuming. How many frames is the video and how many is the text. You may be able to use the video to "trigger" the next text animation instead of attempting to time them out together.
For example, if your video is 100 frames and you have 3 blocks of texts, then at every 34 frames of the video you send a trigger to play the text MC. If all goes well then the text and the animation will "end" about the same time. I'll try to come up with another idea.

Good thoughts - thanks for your time on this - see attachment for a screen shot of the timeline - the black keyframe is where the Crystals video starts...so it's in a separate movie clip than the text...but same timeline - maybe that's my problem? Were able to notice a sluggish playing of the swf?
Video is 12 seconds. KB |
