    Hi,
here is a nice little tool to measure the amount of GigaFlops your Mac can do:

3060 GigaFlops! You kidding right. Either you have the fastest desktop computer in existence, or the software is lying.

To count as a super computer a computer must be able to do most that 1 gigaflop. The G4 was the first desktop processor to deliver this kind of preformance. As far as I am aware the G4 can to 4 giga flops max, under ideal conditions.

But give me your system configuration, I want to play unreal on a system like that. Wow!

    Ooops, sorry

it is of course MegaFlops, not GigaFlops

    hehe

Giggle. I Really wanted to see a computer do that as well. Bum.

Yeah about 3 gigaflops sounds about right, Apple were taking about 2-3 being average with the G4, particuarly in an MP machine.

Still not to bad right? I am not sure if it works like RAM where 1K = 1024btyes. Who knows? Who cares? It's FAST.

Yes, that´s why I bought an MP.
It was one of those systems that Apple made cheaper after the release of the new G4s.
Currently most Apps don´t really support multiprocessing, but I once downloaded a trial-version of the multiprocessing-able Cinema4D.
It was hell! You can even see how both processors render the images, one processor begins on top and the second in the middle of the image. If one processor has rendered its portion faster than the other it beginns in the middle of the remaining area to render and so on.
    Really cool!

I hope OSX will give my G4 an extra boost (I´ll wait till there are enough applications that works with it)

OS X rocks! From what I have hear it will make your G4 fly!

Can't really say it does that for my Powerbook though. Apple says that there is an OpenGL problem with the PB 333. Bummer. Still fingers crossed that I will get my mitts on a G4MP sometime soon (if only)
