If KoolMoves will expand their importing features in future releases. I am an AVID user of XaraX (to say the least) and I was hoping after I had bought KoolMoves that .xar files would be importable. I see that is not the case.

I'm sure there are some people in here that recogize my handle and know me from the Talk Graphics XaraX forum. Hope so. So what do I do if I want a piece imported into KM's?? from Xara, what's the work around. I'm talking about vector images that I can take apart.

Also I was wondering if there is a fix for when I bring up the libraries. The software defaults back to the C: drive. I want it to stay pointed to the "text effects" and "clip art" libraries I downloaded. Any way to set the software up to do this???

Any way, it looks like fun. Still developing the web site images so I may be in and out of here sparingly for the time being.

I've heard nothing but ***** (5 star) reviews about this software. I am looking forward to the experience.

    Thanks so much

I just checked the libraries as long as the libraries are installed in the KoolMoves folder it goes there first, when the libraries are removed or not present it goes to C:.

Perhaps what is needed is a way to set the Libraries location in preferences with a default setting of the KM folder?

There have been several requests to expand the import options. I'm pretty sure that is on the to do list.

I reported this clip art default directory issue to Bob a few days ago... he said there is a bug in it, and has been working on a fix. I have had the same thing happen to me.

I agree with Johnie - A pref setting for the libraries would be nice!

    Bob:

it solved the directory issue where it would default to C: root, but now it sporadically will not display the clip art when you select a folder... if I click on a few folders, it will eventually display the images. This does not happen 100% of the time.... I didnt get a chance to email you about this yet because I wanted to confirm it wasnt my machine...Last night I duplicated this on a different PC. Both are running windows 2000 pro. I have not been able to duplicate it on a win98 machine yet.

    more import files

    Hi RAMWolff,

Nice to see you here. I too would like to have KoolMoves import .xar files.

Xara is the one of the easist, fastest rendering nicest looking vector based graphics programs available (so the experts at the TalkGraphics forum say, (I am NOT an expert) Go to http://www.TalkGraphics.com then Xara/XaraX or Xara Galleries to see it.

I have been talking about KoolMoves there and posted a demo I made combining an imported XaraX image (.wmf) with a little "talkie" Flash movie made with KoolMoves.

XaraX seems to be growing and the TalkGraphics forum has about 2,700 members not counting lurkers.

KoolMoves seems to me to be the best of its kind (I spent a lot of time lookng at SWiSh but like character animation) and XaraX seems to be one of the best vector apps. It would be wonderful to be able to use .xar files in KoolMoves.

    Great program Bob H.!!

Is there a published spec for .xar files?

Bob C and I just posted requests. I more or less pleaded the case. What can I say, I want this to happen. I want this fine application of yours to reach and impress as many as has reached XaraX. It can only help both sides.

Hopefully this will get us some results.

So there are patches for the KoolMoves app?? I have 2.80.3. (paid for and registered).

One other little improvement that I would like to see is taskbar icon resizing and maybe an option to put text under the icons. I am a bit seeing impaired (old age/genetics) and the icons are not big enough, text would help. The text popups are a bit slow, have to hover for a few seconds to get it to tell you what it is. This kind of feature would be extremely helpful to newbies.

    Thanks Bob : )

What is up with this forum software......????

Is it the traffic or some glitch. It took me 1/2 an hour to post this reply. I won't be in here much if this is the case. I don't have ADSL or Cable. but my 56K seems fast enough for the XaraX forum, NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!!

I read a thread or two about this in here, are you planning on moving or upgrading to a different software that can handle the load better. I hope so.

One more thing to add to your software community and generating more buisness. A forum that is fast and efficient will make people WANT to come hear to ask questions. This is important Bob, IMHO!!

    Thanks

    http://www.flashkit.com/feedback.shtml

is the feedback link for FlashKit - I sent them a message about the poor response of the boards....

If anyone else wants to tell FK what they think, just please be proper and not just say "you suck."

The last thing we need is to create a hostile relationship between Koolmoves/Bob and the admins of Flashkit...

What we say as the KM community has a direct impact on KM iteself....

Thank you for saying that. This forum is a free service provided by FlashKit so it behooves us to be polite.

RAMWolff, 2.80.3 is the latest released version. mmreed is using 2.80.4 which I will release when I solve the clip art category selection problem for NT based systems.

    In all honesty...........

It was not my intention to come accross as to say "your board sucks".

    You mis-read or I mis-worded it.

I realize the board is a free service, as is XaraX forum. Their board never hangs or is slow and it's quite loaded up with traffic as well.

So I was just making an observation and asking a question about it. Didn't mean to come accross rude or impolite.

I did use the link to submit a "suggestion/bug" report.

I didn't want to get off on the wrong hoof here and it seems I may have. I appologize, that wasn't my intent. I just don't have time to waste like that. I hope you can understand the frustration having to re-submit my post 5 times. It was not a positive experience for me.

Bob, I look forward to the new release.

    Thank you

I know that board speed and reliance is a problem but I also know that the new webmaster is working on a solution. Yesterday they upgraded the servers and that helped a little bit. This board shares the same server as all of FlashKit and has Millions and Millions of threads. Look at the thread counts for the rest of Flashkit and also look at the number of users.

Believe it or not I can usually get on faster with my dial-up connection than with a Broadband one? - It must be the times I am accessing it with each one.

As far as patches go they are included in the upgrades and are sent via e-mail.

I dug around a bit... The .XAR format that you guys are talking about is the native closed file format for Xara X and not an XML format?

I don't know maybe Bob can talk them into it or at least talk them into adding .FUN export from Xara X.

    Hi Bob H.,

I asked your question at the Xara Forum and got this URL: http://www.xara.com/support/docs/web.../Overview.html

Looks interesting to me but I am not a programmer so I don't know if its of any use!
