I hope you don't mind, but I was keen to see if I could reproduce your Marqee project in KM Version 3 ActionScript.

It uses 4 Movie Clips:
one for the vertical line;
one for the horizontal line;
one for the text;
one for the script actions

The vertical and horizontal movie clips are duplicated in ActionScript and then the text is moved and positioned as required with Actionscript.

The SWF is a third of the size, but the CPU overhead will be greater. Just goes to show, there are many ways to kill a cat, and it just depends which one you are more comfortable with, or which way suites the particular situation.
