This semester I'm taking my first 3dsmax class, but so far we haven't done anything very exciting, just lots of bouncing balls, robot arms and one model.
The character took me 2-3 days (modeling, unwrapping, texturing) the rigging stuff (bones, skinning, motion included lots of stuff I had to learn xtra) another 2 days. But I am getting faster and faster as I progress with this project.

my partner I work with started already with the environment of the city

some color shadings of the main character

and finally a new Character I started yesterday- he should be finished by today:

Uh... What I meant was how long it took you to get your abilities to that level.
It is a shame that colors have names

i started with 3dsmax 3 (we currently have 10 [3dsmax 2008 is 10])- but in the beginning I focused more on Flash and Photoshop hence the reason why I am here today- but if one would count by years pehaps something between 4-5.
But I guess that someone with more direction just into 3d could do that way faster

Can you recommend a site with good 3Ds Max tutorials?

Render HOLY COW THAT STUFF IS AMAZING!! >< geez I'm starting out I think in Maya next semester-- actually I'm not sure, it's just a "3D modeling" class so we'll see... and 3D animation too, haha it'll take a while to get that good
Mclelun... excellent style, great movement and color!!
Been busy lately working on my portfolio to send to CalArts (prolly gonna drop it off this friday YIPES!) -- I'm applying for Character Animation, so I've been busy with Life Drawing lately, hence the lack of posts.
But... I am taking a rendering class too, so far we've only completed one piece-- I'm working on the 2nd piece now (acrylic paint) whcih'll take a long time to finish, prolly the rest of the semester (some 4 weeks or somethin like that). Anyway, here's the graphite rendering piece! Hours put into it-- ahhh, a LOT XD
    Chinese Alien!!!!

    enjoy

I think he looks a little more happy/squinty/drunk/just ate a lemon with a vinegar enema chaser than chinese, but that's excellent work, Tahnee!

New web background for my new Flash webpage.
Just a few drawings, and a filtered portrait of myself on the left.

    @ e-Tahn:
very impressive skills,- because of the pencil technique it almost looks like the skin was cut out of wood

    @ Evaman:
much much better as the first PS images I saw from you,- the threshold is imo. perhaps a little bit to strong right now it looks like a copy from a copymachine

    @ Natsia:
I thought you had red hair,- anyway that girl in the pic looks nice too the hair tips have some nice detail

    little progress on my project:

(chinese reads like choronos- I am not very good at it but booth mean the personification of time in Greek mythology)
This shot shows very well wich style me and my friend are after- within the next weeks we will propably render the first scenes so starting then I will have a final impression of what it will look like in the end.

some shots from the 2nd scene animation preview (not the rendering)

right now me and a friend are working on the market for the next scene and some missing textures.

    @ renderhjs
I really like this project a lot. When it's rendered, the cell shading seems like it will give it a great motive. I'll be hoping for some footage of the first part soon.

    @ Natsia
Sick. That makes me want to practice my bland illustrator skills. I really like the shading on your face, very well done.

This right here isn't much but another portrait sketch that I did with some charcoal. Since I'm very new to the material, I've been going at it. This picture below is a portrait of my manger from work.

Working on what? Translating the Necronomicon?

That's quite a deviation from your normal style, Nats. I like the unconventional shading and the energy of the figure. Cool stuff.

    HAHAHA! Thanks Rush.
This is actually a comish for a friend. Portrait of them, the person above is a poet and they wanted something which was a view on how I saw them, hence the title: Warrior Poet. Wording in the background is from a poem they wrote called "Sexact"

translation is in progress btw . You know me and my hobbies

Lately all my stuff has been literature, but man now this thread has me aching to get back into the visual.

I really like your style, mclelun. It's clean, fun and friendly. You make excellent use of minimal lines and selective shading. Great work.
