Imported swf not visible on export

I have a very simple project with an imported swf file, and it shows perfectly when shown in 'play in web browser'. When I export it as an swf + html page though, it does not appear. Other elements seems fine, but the swf component is invisible. Have I forgotten to do something?

Are the files local or on line?

Local - once I've imported, how would that affect things?

I have the same question, but I've got an animation that imports a number of .swf's. I've placed all the files on my server and put the parent animation in the same directory, but the imported .swf's don't show up.

This same animation also loads three small .swf movies, and they show up just fine. But why won't the imported .swf's show up. As in the previous post, they show up when I preview while still in KoolMoves. They should work if the animation is in the same directory as the rest of the files.

I've worked with KoolMoves almost since the beginning and have never answered this question. I've been getting around the issue with movie loads. But this time I can't. I really need to see the imported .swf's...

    Please help.

Both of you, if you open the html file on your local disk in Internet Explorer, does the animation play correctly. I assume all files are in the same directory.

Willing to bet it's the difference in file names on Windows and Unix
On windows the CaSE doesn't matter on Unix it does. Check your file names.

OK, I know what the problem is - me! I didn't read the bit about needing the source swf file in the same folder as the finished file. When I do that it works fine.

I must say though, calling this an import is mighty confusing. Calling it a link or something similar would have been much clearer - it never occured to me that an imported object was not stored in the final swf.

    thx to everyone who responded

    Solved!

My 'oops' was a little different, however. I neglected to click on the 'Swf in subdirectory' option in the 'Export as SWF and HTML' window when exporting files. The reason for this is because previous versions didn't have this feature. When I first got KoolMoves, like, three years ago, I had gotten only one imported element to play, an FLV of flames. But I do quite clearly remember not having my .swf's show up, because I abandoned the issue. And then, I really had no idea what 'embed' did. Now I know, and I am so psyched that my animations are going to be so much Kooler!

Just remember (noobs like me) that you are designating a remote location -some path to a directory on your server... http://www.yoursite.com/flash/...
