Unhappy [CS3] Flash wont let me export swf!! Please help!

(i'm sorry but im not sure which board would be best to post this on...)

So I've been working on a flash web site for a long time now and something really strange just happened... just today as i tried to run a 'publish preview' of my site in HTML; an IE window opened but the flash content (the swf) didn't load into it.

I checked further, and it turns out Flash only created the HTML file but didn't create an SWF file.

So i tried to run a 'publish preview' in 'flash' (swf) instead and all i get is a blank white window - again the swf doesn't load up.

I try to go through the debugger - nothing either.

I try to simply EXPORT the movie to an SWF through file/export - it loads up for a few seconds but it never creates the swf file either. I also asked it for a file size report with the export and what i got is a report blank inside. No other files.

I opened a completely new file and just did a few random drawings in it to see if it would work, and that works fine.

Why would my animation not work then? It worked fine yesterday! I barelly changed anything in it since last time i worked on it (when it worked fine) - in fact all i did was replace a couple of buttons with different looking ones. I tried to undo all the changes I made to get my animation to the same state it was back when it worked but nothing helps...

I've been working with flash CS3, but I actually just downloaded the trial version of CS4 just to see if it would solve my problem - it did not. Whether it's cs3 or cs4, it simply doesn't export my swf...

I don't know what else can cause this... is it possible that my flash file is somehow simply too big? that doesn't sound right at all, but i just can't figure out what else could be the problem...

i will love you forever if you can put some sense into this for me... i've been working on this for over a month and i'll cry if it doesn't start to work again...
thanks in advance...
matt

If you want help post your FLA file, not much we can suggest with this kind of issue.

Can you upload it to mediashare or something like that?

Hey, my fla file can be downloaded here

http://home.comcast.net/~lcagaiden/marlinthemovie.rar

There are 2 files in the rar file, the one you want is 'marlinthemovie2.fla'. It is unfinished and a really big file right now, but it's not a finished project just yet.

again - i'd greatly appreciate any help.

Do you happen to remember at what point exactly it stopped working, as in what was the last thing you changed that caused this? There are so many items in that file it would take someone not familiar with the project days to go through everything.

Did you keep periodic backups by chance?

The last thing i did before it stopped working was change two buttons, they are on the 'media' layer, in the big movie clip on the main stage, if you open up the movie clip and go to the 2nd or 3rd frame (the 'concept art' frame), and then open up the movie clip in that frame, then go to the 'make up' frame. The movie clip in center stage will have a few pics of faces on it. The last thing i did with this project was to add the two arrows to move fw and back below it. I already tried removing those and replacing them with the original ones, but it doesn't help at all.

I did however notice that the problem is somewhere on the "Cast", "Media" or "Acclaim" layers. After i delete those three layers, the movie exports fine. There's little in common between those three layers though, and even thou the movie exports fine when i delete the layers, the exported swf tends to really lag and freeze up my entire computer. It used to run quite smoothly before...

... at this point i'm basically trying to go through all the graphics in the file and replace them with lower resolution, so i get a smaller file size and i hope that i will also somehow find the problem that's causing it as i do that...

if you notice anything though, please let me know.

thanks a bunch.

I have some solution when sfw file wont export. Looks like it will... but at the last bar of export window it stops and disapper . My way is to find damaged obiects in library panel (they wont show in preview window), delate it and make ones again. If I do this swf exports.
