Mike Chambers is a Macromedia employee, prolific author, backend scripting Coldfusion guy, and most important, a community leader/liason.
But also, and most important, he is currently in need of a posse. At the most recent Flashforward here in NY, there were a number of Black and White stickers floating around declaring that Flash Enabled has a posse, of which Mike Chambers is apparently one. But after seeing his striking image on the stickers, and knowing how he contributes to the Flash communities, I decided he deserves a posse of his own, made up of members of the communities he serves. So, to commemorate the event, I've decided to kick off a contest. I'm not sure what the prize will be yet (maybe a book, like Flash Enabled, possibly an autographed picture of the big MC himself!). The rules are simple. To enter, you have to put the Mike Chambers posse sticker in your footer and some sort of message indicating that you are a member (worded any way you would like). Next, create a piece of Mike Chambers-inspired artwork. The best piece of work (as voted on by the community) will get rewarded in some way, more details to come. Art can be any medium - Flash animation, vector drawing, cartoon, painting, collage, etc. Here's some stuff to work with. Mike's Bio Mike Chambers has been creating applications using primarily Macromedia Flash, Generator and Java for the past three years. He also has experience working with ASP, JSP, PHP and ColdFusion. Recently he has been working with Flash and embedded devices, contributing to the “Macromedia Flash Pocket PC Player Authoring Kit.” He is co-author of "Flash Enabled" and “Generator and Flash Demystified." Some images from Flashforward 2002 NYChttp://www.openedsource.net/mikechambersposse/ Feel free to find others elsewhere to work with. And here's my first contribution, more to come. ![]() |

I refuse to believe that the amount of pictures on that page is healthy, CNO.

![]() Mike worked with server side stuff then, maybe I should try to create something using ming then... hmmmm, it'd be an excuse to give it a try anyway I seem to remember he was pretty helpful when the flash 6 player bug was discovered, i'd be happy to join his posse (I don't think i've joined a posse since I was 12 ) |

![]() I was hoping to use some technology to create a picture dynamically (what with mike being a bit of a server side guru), unfortunatly adding some coldfusion code into the pic is about as close as I've got so far. maybe in my next attempt ![]() I think the mike dance is still my favourite entry though

Just a note to let you all know the Dancin' Mike movie has been updated - let it run for a bit, try refreshing the page.
Someone want to take screenshots and put together an Andy Warhol-style pic?

oh man, this is too much.
I will throw in a copy of "Flash Enabled:Flash Design and Development for Devices" to the winner. I will also send a Mike Chambers Flash Enabled Posse sticker (#2 of 16) to the first ten entries. mike chambers mesh@macromedia.com |

its a little slow and lacking in features, but it has some decent results.. i think ![]() it might take a little while to draw, but thats because its go to run a command a few thousand times. |

Play match-a-mike at http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2...t/mc_game.html
turn over tiles to match up pairs of Mike pictures, only one level and background so far but I plan to add more.[Edited by catbert303 on 08-07-2002 at 07:21 PM] |
