Yeah, a phenomenal event in animation history happened in 1985....I was born....haha..

Its a cool animation, but how big if the file size!?!? it took a long time to load.

Animation size stats

The full animation is about ~950K

With out the sound theme ist is 619K.

Each 'film frame' is about 7K

The larger objects are about 22K.

Any tips?

BTW/ for some of us 1985 is a long time ago ...:)

The only tips I would have is to compress you ".jpg" files and reduce sound quality.

Of course 1985 till now has been a long time. It was my whole life!

And contemplate this ...

How big would it be if I posted it in quicktime ... or anything else ...

:)

BTW/ plays smoother with the Flash 5 player beta.

hmm no make in real
quick time no good :)
how big is the orignial file ??
try to put in a smile document ... cause you can present your flashclip in an real player .. looks deluxe :) it wouldnīt be only some few k bigger than the origianl swf.file depens on how much extra action you add ..
there is an good smile composer out for free from sausage software called SMIL Composer itīs cool and easy to handle!

I guess I could go RealPlayer when Flash 5 ships (has built is RealPlayer export). However, I'm serving it out of my personal site with not support for anything special.

I just love the fact that I can make this kind of presentation with a 200-300K plug-in.

in an smil document you donīt need any large support only the newest version of the real or no not even that real plr 7 goes good with smil ... and in smil you can set some event maybe commoercial banners which pop out and close ... :)

Sounds neat ...

... but what advantage would I have over flash?

no real advantage but you can make a flash layer an extra text layer and sound soundlayer and set time events

itīs an presentation form ...you can set it as an embeded object or you can view it in an realplayer or an player which supports smil

smil is an coporation between macromedia and real networks

Real player is cool -

but if I can do something with Flash, I do because I know most people have it and if they don't - the plug in is a few clicks and a short download away.

It's kind of a flash as platform point of view.

The only need I would have is if I wanted to do video, but since Flash and video only cooperate in Quicktime - realplayer is out.

I honestly believe flash is the future of the web.

When Flash 6 player does video and the plugin remains small most other things will fall away, because Flash offers so much functionality compared to what else is out there.

What is really neat is if you are using windows and IE, the ActiveX control is incredibly easy to obtain.

That's just my rant for the day. :)

Slow on download (yes, most is non-vector so the images and sound are large).

Slow on playback?

Machine stats?

Use the Flash 5 player beta.

but on the other hand you see real and macromedia started to design smil just for "video" presenting and the buffering advantage from real combined with flash make smil one of the most wanted products to look for !
i donīt think flash is a stand alone in the future ... doesnīt mean i dun love flash i love but ... itīs not capable of doing all the commands and actions you need for the web ....
i would love it if flash would be able to livestreams but it canīt do it so i m streaming with real or wmp and make flash menu for replay controls

flash is the best thing but itīs far away to be the futures only choice to preswent something cool in the net !
just my tiny opinion

thank you for your time !:p

I guess the only draw back about Flash 5 and Real is that it only export to Flash and real audio, no Real video support.

I just starting to learn languages, VB, VBScript and such. I guess I'll get to it. Maybe someone will eventually do it. Then again - I can export to avi and mov straight out.

Have you ever seen the Flash 4 / Quicktime demo?
