Hello my new friends, can you please help me. please!

something strange is happening:

I made a few flash movies and they are located at

the top 4 movies will not play on ie5 for mac, however the
bottom movies will play. these are flash 4 movies by the way. the only difference between the bottom and top movies
are that the bottom ones just play straight, without any
buttons. just jumping from one frame to another frame
on the main time line, and that's it.

the top movies however, involve buttons to advance to
the next frame on the main time line. and there is
a stop action in the beginning of the main time line as well. so the only difference i can see between the movies that work and don't work is the buttons and there being a stop action.

what do you think is going on. all the movies work on pc ie5.

thanks. hope everyone had a good holiday in the u.s.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Why are those files so big? I think there may be a file size limit for flash. Might work on your computer but an entirly different story online. This may be your reason, I have no idea, and honestly who would wait long enough for them to load? I saw the file size and I said "hell naw."

you are right urbansensory. But.....
they are big files because it is a 80 page book,
where you flip each page. and it keeps on loading
while you are able to view the beginning pages. there is
NO WAIT at all if you are using cable.
when i tested it out on other people's pc using
cable, it worked fine. and it takes less then 5
seconds to load the FIRST page and while the user is flipping throught the first few pages - the rest of
the movie finishes loading. (except for 1 movie, which takes about 45 seconds to load everything)

but all this does not work with mac ie5 or netscape navigator. maybe because it is too big, as you say.

i appreciate very much your reply.
ill test it out with a smaller file for mac.

I would have to say that I like the idea though. Let it load while they read, makes sense.

Iīm with DSL. I tried the first link (marvielle series 9.3MB!!!).
It works with Netscape 4.5! Doesnīt work with IE5.0.
I think the size is the problem. IE5 for Mac has a horrible memory management. Maybe it canīt handle such big SWFs.

Some tips:
Try a higher compression on the picts in Photoshop.
Donīt use the JPG compression of Flash, it sucks.
Try breaking the "book" into parts. When reaching the end of a part, load the next part with the load movie command.
Not everyone is on cable! Give the people a chance to choose between high quality "books" and low quality.

BTW, there are some very nice pictures in your book!
(Iīve studied Arts, I think I can judge it.)

Good luck

no, the file size is not the problem. my project was 150K (www.randomhouse.com/kids/mummyreturns/) and the preloader's 'begin' button does not function in ie4.5/ie5 mac. no probs w/ ns nav mac or ie/ns pc.
