Hey,...I managed to get the fonts I wanted to finally be
in the WINDOWS/FONTS file, but when I go to Flash,it still
doesn't list them.I've rebooted and stuff but it doesn't
work.I'm so frustrated right now...I just wanted to use
some new fonts and I've apparently opened up a can of worms,
or my FONTS file is seriously stubborn.I appreciate any
sort of help anyone can give me...also in an windows message
about my fonts file,it gives a final alternative being to
contact your "FONT VENDOR" about obtaining a new file,...
...Who or what is the font vendor?

Anychance of a few details?
OS?
Font Name?

I use ME, 2000, and recently 98SE and all I do is paste them into my fonts directory then reboot - works fine!

does it work in other programs?

sometimes when u unzip fonts it will unzip a whole folder in the windows/fonts one. Try going into the directory and click on FILE>INSTALL NEW FONT and seeing if another folder is there with your font in it.

hth :)

Okay,as far as info,I downloaded some of the small pixel
text @ miminml,..you know,hooge and kroeger,...then I just
had a few fonts from here...like a couple Ray Larabies or
something...So at first,...Windows 98 kept giving me the
message,...Can't install fonts,..."too many"..."uninstall"
some fonts before trying new installations...blahblahblah.
So naturally I had alot of fonts, like 946 or something, and
probably 900 I'd never use.So I figured I'll move some out
and delete some.I have taken it from 946 to like 184...so
there's PLENTY of room...Second,at first it wouldn't install
those new fonts I downloaded...then during one of the numerous reboots I performed,I managed to have the Fonts
folder accept the new ones,I put all the miniml ones in.
Great,there they are,so I think,YES! They're in there!
So when I go to check in Flash, they don't appear.I assume
they won't appear in any other program either,I tried WORD
and they weren't there either. So I managed to get my TYPE
MANAGER up but I think there might be a problem with that too cause when I open the folders I have to store those moved fonts,it doesn't list any being there or in the main
FOnts folder for Windows which obviously has fonts in them.
AAAAHHHH!!! I really appreciate anyone even reading this,
cause I'm stuck.I'm contemplating a clean install of Windows
again but that would be a serious pain in the ass, plus I
really don't know if that would solve the problem, most likely, but all I need to do is drag and drop some fonts back
in and that should do it.Am I crazy???

alright, let me get this straight. the miniml fonts appear in your directory and they don't work in the program?

just in case>
go into your fonts directory
go to file>install new font
in the bottom left use the nav to go into c:/windows/fonts
if I'm right, (unlikely), there will be more directories within the fonts one called "HOOGE_05" and "KROEGER_05"
if I'm right (again, unlikely), open those folders and select all the fonts inside you wish to install...then click on install.

that may or may not work, but it's worth a try anyway. :)

Hum.. I was browsing this forum looking for an answer to this question, and after reading this, I went ahead and went to my Windows > Fonts folder. There, I put (like everyone said to do) File > Install New Font. I went to the directory where I had it, installed it, opened flash, and it worked. I didn't even reboot.

*shrugs* pity it doesn't work with you, but thanks because it did with me. :)
