I have an external firewire 30G HD that I have partitioned. I want to put OS X on the 10G partition, but I've heard that OS X will not recognize partitions. Please respond if you have heard of something similar, or if you have done the same. I can't afford trouble!

Thanks in advance for your help!

from what i understand you have to have a partition or hard drive runnin 9.1 in order for osx to work. at least that's what the manual says.

I have OS X and 9.1 on the same partition. The classic environment is supposed to work better that way. But OS X can be installed on a separate partition, either way it doesn't make much difference.

I think i'm right in saying you can run os x without having 9.1 on your machine, you should be able to as this is only used for the classic environment (tho this is pretty vital at the mo' with the shortage of cocoa/carbon apps), and nothing else.
