I'm tried importing a .wav file into Flash 4, but was told that it did not recognize the format.

In reading the manual, it mentions 8 and 16 bit .wav's but not 4 bit, which is what this file is.

Is there anyway to change it to be accepted?

Well you can use a program like soundforge
to change to bit rate from 4 to 8
then it will import.

Do you have the orginal 16bit?
because it would be better just to
change that to 8 bit and import that into flash.

Thanks. I found out the problem was that it needed to be in the PCM format.

I did not realize that all .wav files are not created equal!

Hello, I'v a flash derive that records directly in 4bit wav format. Now the problem is that I bought another flash drive that records in act format. When I convert it into wav (but utility provided with that flash drive), it is in16 bit format. It take lots of space. Now I want to convert from 16 bit to 4 bit. So is there any utility that can do this or if you know of some dll please let me know. I'll be very thankful for your reply.

Use a program like db Poweramp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com).

Then convert the 16bit WAV to 4bit WAV.
