i can't seem to import ANY video format without getting the error message "warning: the audio in this file cannot be imported" - this is the reason why i upgraded to MX (video compatability within flash & as exported .swfs)!! i have tried .mov, .avi, and .mpeg video clips. i have downloaded DirectX 8, Quicktime 6 player, RealOne player, what am i missing? going nuts...

I had the same problem til I download an app called flix
http://www.wildform.com. It turns video with the sound into swf files for you to import.

Moved from Flash MX Help !!

You also might want to try Sorenson Squeeze

What are you using to create the source files? There are some considerations when preparing the soundtrack.

Your sound needs to be exported in your source file at 44.100kHz - 16bit - stereo - non protected. Make sure the "import audio" checkbox in Flash/Spark on import.

thanks all! still working on a solution, but i have read thru a lot of FK's other entries and have been able to get sound when importing the sample from this good site:

i have also enabled the DirectX 8 sound thing in my sys (Win2000), & upgraded my SoundBlaster Live! driver. if i sound stupid re sound et al it's cause i am (this is the first time ever using sound in Flash).

fyi previously where i was finding files to test with was at:
http://www.tux.org/pub/distributions/tinylinux/peanut-linux/contribs/people/linuxkid/test.html. - is that an ok place?

this is a real project i am attempting to troubleshoot the video portion of before it happens, so i am writing down all your suggestions & will continue; prob hear from me again.

thanks so much, Flash Kit is awesome!
