Continuing the competition and suggestion of several members, welcome to the second Flashkit Arena design challenge

The Flashkit Arena design challenge

The idea of the challenge is to create visually stimulating work based on a monthly theme set by the Arena moderators (myself, Aversion and Jamble). It is open to anyone who wishes to enter and the only prize is kudos and a bit of fame. It's great practice and we hope will be a little fun for those who are struggling to think of a theme for their work!

I'm sure we'll be able to get the FK Admin, JStarkey to include the winner each month in the Flashkit newsletter with a link to their work so your graphic will potentially be seen by everyone that reads the newsletter.

mad props to designmarathon (http://www.designmarathon.com) for the original idea

Here we go then:

The Rules

* 740*498 image size yep, odd size... work with it!
* no image larger than 100k filesize
* .gif's, .png's and .jpg's allowed - please respect filesizes
* images can be rotated - portrait or landscape
* they must be based on the monthly theme set by the moderators
* each game will last approximately 1 month

On to the game without further ado...

The Theme for January 2003

Since we're celebrating the New Year 2003, and it's customary to declare what you will do different given the brand new year... Submissions should be based on this theme:

New Year Resolutions

Yep, that's right. Via a graphic, you can detail your New Year Resolutions.

Reminder: Keep it clean folks. Flashkit is a G-Rated/G13 forum!

Please post all entries in this thread for the time being and don't be afraid to enter as many times as you want to, there are strictly speaking no prizes so it doesn't matter if you submit one or one hundred and fifty entries, the aim of it to have a little fun, show some skills and learn a little more about how other people and yourself design within a set theme. I'll set up a separate thread for entries asap.

Good luck, please don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not sure about anything!

*Oh, this is open to all members and mods too!

Happy New Year

*above verbiage based on Jamble's first Arena Competition announcement :)

Thanks for your time.

when you post, look below the area where you type, and you can attach an image; preferably *.jpg, *.gif, or *.png at 100k in filesize or so (but not too much bigger).

I'll host the entries as with last months images so I can upload the final entries to my server before deadline day :)

I use to use Geocities- I just upload the image, stick it in a .htm file and just post the link.

but you can't display a HTML page within a post here at FK, so why not just use the attachment facility?

Saint Benedetta

Nayades - Yes, I remote link my volleys until Nerdles offered me free hosting. :)

Aversion - Yeah, you can also attach your entries here as long as the file size is 100k or under, which is needed for this comp anyway.

This is my first ever "image volley" post and propably the last.

Probably could have looked nicer with a coastal pic in the background (not some colorless swamp) :(

Bah. Less is More is so 1998. And besides, your "plane" doesn't follow a "less is more" guideline, it follows a "Go below my own quality" kind of guideline. :p

That's a frikking domo-kun, not a bear. Bears are cute. So was I at 8. You're "submission" is a far cry from the cuteness of a teddybear. :p
