i might be game, but what's the concept/rules?

are we gonna swap some files, or just have a peeing contest?

Let's keep it at 1280x1024.
I was thinking we could do something different - like adding layers, yet maintaining the integrity of the underlying layers. (cloning allowed).

What do you think?

Flip.

Yes. I used both Max and PS. And Illustrator for the line work.

Great remix there Flipsideguy. Tell me how much knowledge of Max do you need to create something like that? I created my remixes in Photoshop and found it difficult to improve on your image so I went off topic a bit by using the evil baby.

I like the addition of the baby - but we're getting somewhat off track. In an attemp to clean things up a bit I came up with this. I used your 'evil' baby - except now he/she's the "kre8ive child" :)

Keep it going.

As for the 3d stuff - I'v been using 3D Studio Max for 2 years. I'm by no means a great 3d artist - but I know my way around the software pretty well.

I like what you've done with the creative child. I'm starting to run out of ideas with my volleys, I really need to get a proper 3d application.

Anyway. I like the flying cubes. That'll be the next thing I'll use in my volley (expect this one will be a smash :)). Keep tuned.

Thanks alty29 for that nice comment. I like your stuff in your ongoing battle too (especially the one with the orange lines on the left hand side - really nice).

Sorry I'm kind of busy at the moment, but if anyone else wants to continue with the remix then go for it. I'd be interested to see the results.

It is difficult to write a tutorial for abstract 3d art. One first has to create the various elements in a 3d package. Some of which are randomly created, some planned. I tend to use basic shapes such as boxes, and camera techniques to add visual depth and distortion.
Then I bring it all together in good ol' Photoshop and begin stacking the layers, change layermodes and mask out unwanted elements. I often change the color of my 3d objects to achieve the wanted results.

That's all.

Flip.
