I sampled a 30 second loop from an mp3. I made it into wav format 8 hz 8 bit stereo PCM. It is 566 kb big. The problem is the sound sounds great when i listen to it in winamp, but in flash it really slows down. I believe that the compression I am using is really crappy, but if anyone else has any ideas or suggestions please reply.

it's because you sampled it at 8khz 8 bit.

try 11khz 16 bit.

don't use 8khz 16, 32,or 48.

use 11khz,or 22khz 16bit mono.

You can find out more about this subject in the Flash help files.

Ok I will try that, but what if the file becomes too big. Actually what I mean is what should the maximum size of the wav file be, for it to the loading to be bearable

Once you have imported your wav into flash, double click the sound in the library. In the compresssion box, select MP3. This will take the file size down by using MP3 compression !
