I have been working on some corporate projects lately and have been trying to figure out the best ways to obfuscate the actionscript. I know I will probably get blasted from an open source zealot but there are times when not everyone wants their code accessible to anyone with a decompiler. I have come across the post below and 'genable' which it appears makes one of the only obfuscators out there (for actionscript).

Anyone have any feedback/comments of this subject, or any experience in trying to do this type of thing with actionscript?

I once saw a thread on chatty@figleaf that was about this and one of the participants was a guy from ******* who make a decompiler. He said that everytime someone comes up with a new way to hide stuff they simply release a new version that gets around it. He said no method had fooled them yet.

You can use simple methods like shell movies but the determined cracker will always find a way.

Still I'd like to hear of ways that keep the kiddies out at least!

To be honest, I don't think there's much you can do. Swf is a insecure format, and that's it really.

As the saying goes, security through obscurity is no security at all...
