07-11-2005, 02:24 PM
There you go again, hoping that I am in some kind of pain (or being some kind of pain). Mine is up.....bad as it is...

From your 1st photo: Rings, Wood, Book ;), & Reflection

From your 2nd photo: Heart, Star (the wooden thing on the right) & Glass

From your 3rd photo: Newspaper & Tray (the light wood everything is sitting on)

From your 4th photo: Rock (I had a mirror on the tray, but it didn't make the cut)

From your 5th photo: Sunglasses & Sandal (who can find the sandal?)

07-11-2005, 02:35 PM
 Great job EVP!
That stone, between the two rings...what is it? I like the reflections in it and the sun glasses! :) Is that a sandal I see in the reflection? LOL! That was neat!

07-11-2005, 02:42 PM
Just a glass opalescent <sp?> stone that we have in our fish tank.

This thread seems to only be populated by you and I, I wonder who is gonna vote.....?

nice job on spotting that sandal...he he ;)

07-11-2005, 02:56 PM
Pretty Stone, even if it is a bit fishy! LOL

I don't know, maybe we need to draw attention to it somehow!

:p Women have an eye for hidden things like that.

07-11-2005, 03:03 PM
i am lurking ;)

so, (excuse me if i have missed the rules or something) do people vote after each of the photos? and then you conitnue onto the next theme or is it a vote at the end based on all your photos?

07-11-2005, 03:36 PM
yeah, i've been lurking too. i'm sort of confused on the format as well. first there were 5 photos per volley, and now only 1. i think i understand what you did, but still not sure how to vote. either way, i promise not to vote for bush!

07-11-2005, 05:14 PM
Voting is required after each round.

1. A theme is chosen

2. 5 fotos are posted by each mod in regard to this theme

3. Each Mod posts ONE foto that has at least one item from each of the oppositions 5 fotos incorperated into it.

4. Alternate turns choosing theme, suggestions are accepted and apreciated !! ;-)

07-11-2005, 10:32 PM
alright, that actually makes sense, and is quite cool. :)

so since you've both gone, is the voting open now...?
if so, is it to be based on all the pics (6), or just the final composite (1)?

Let the VOTING BEGIN!! :grouphug:

First 5 fotos should be judged on:

Indicative of Theme
technical proficiency

Last foto is to be judged independent of the first 5 and used as a tie breaker or desision maker so to speak.

The last foto should be judged on:

Technical proficiency
Must have at least one item from each of the other opponents first 5 fotos

Im still not quite sure as to how this works, are we comparing each of the photos directly or just as a whole? or what? sorry for being a bit slow...

07-12-2005, 08:54 PM
It seems that I made things too complicated. and no one could understand it so just vote on a scale of 1- 10 each of the fotos. :faded: I will remember in the future to keep things simple. :p

Sorry

Like this?

Photo 1 : 5/10 - seems a little out of focus?
Photo 2 : 6/10
Photo 3 : 6/10
Photo 4 : 6/10 - great subject, but the background is a bit distracting
Photo 5 : 6/10

Photo 1 : 5/10
Photo 2 : 5/10
Photo 3 : 7/10
Photo 4 : 7/10 - really like the soft, 'old' look to this shot.
Photo 5 : 6/10

07-19-2005, 08:18 AM
That will work! :-) Thanks CT, I was starting to think we would not get anyone to vote. I guess I made things to hard.
Thanks again for voting!

07-19-2005, 08:42 AM
ooops, i meant to do this before, but forgot and as it sunk further and further down this page i failed to notice it- sorry!!

these are just my opinions, and not sure how qualified i am to judge, but seeing as it's open to everyone, i thought i'd do it anyway!!
tried to judge on the 3 factors Ms P mentioned.....

here goes....

Ms P
1 5 (not too keen on the composition, and as mentioned- looks a little blurry?)
2 5 (maybe it's just me, but didn't find this particularly indicative of theme)
3 8 (love the angle of this)
4 8 (very creative)
5 6 (nice idea, but background/surroundings a little busy)

1 5 (nice idea- not sure about composition)
2 6 (again- very creative, and love the texture of wood- shaddow a bit too dark though)
3 7 (i like this one a lot, but not sure about the 'indicative of theme' factor)
4 6 (nice style)
5 7 (technically appears to be a good shot, but again- indicative of theme=??)

are we meant to judge your final photos now as well, or is that later?

07-19-2005, 09:03 AM
Thanks Carly! and the idea of all this is to help you see what you are looking at and to help you make better fotos. So don't balk at judging! You are doing fine.

In ref. to the theme of number 2 - The European Union Flag - Union of many countries in Europe.... with the Friesian Flag which is part of the Netherlands. The Netherlands is one of the countries who are members of the EU.

In ref. to the theme of number 3 - Corona and Limes seem to go hand in hand for the people who like drinking of this type of beer. :-)

In ref. to the theme of number 7 - The broken wedding ring.....symbolizes a broken marriage. :-) And the rose..... bittersweet memories of a marriage.

And Yes! Everyone is supose to vote on the last foto also. This foto is the one that, if the scores are very close, will be the decission maker.

Thanks again for taking the time to vote!

07-19-2005, 09:19 AM
thank you for clarifying the theme in those photos :) i understand the flags one now, as that was one that completely stumped me!! in the others i could see what the idea was, i just didn't think they were THAT closely linked.

i still stand by the scores i gave though i think- hope that's ok.

as for the final 2 pictures.....
