illiap, congratulations on going to Pratt!! :) wow, that is just fantastic for you, I am excited to see someone in here who is doing something that I want to do. My dad has told me he will pay for graduate school if I decide that is something I want to do, and I do, I have been thinking about it alot. I found out about NYU and a progam they hvae there in Interactive Telecommunications, pretty cool program.
What was it like to prepare for trying to get in there? Pratt is a very good school, I have been reading about their programs. And New York is a place I feel destined to go to, and to combine that city with school would be unreal.
So if you have any suggestions for me, that would be awesome. I am in my last year of college as an Advertising major/Architecture minor, my grades are not that good, but I am guessing they look at alot more than that. Did you have to take the GRE? Alot of those design graduate programs say they want people who show promise, and seem like they really want to learn alot to give them a good future, and that is certainly a big part of who I am .
Any suggestions about portfolio, reccomendations, grades, stuff like that I would appreciate. You've obviously done it, so I think you could offer good advice. It's an oppurtunity I have, and if I could get into a grad school that would be fantastic, would make my parents very proud, not to mention the amazing things I could learn and be around.
Good Luck with the drive, hope you can get around some of those fires!

Congrats, Iliap, can't wait to see you here.
I'm an undergrad senior in the CGIM dept. at Pratt Institute here in Brooklyn.
The program is excellen, and there's some really knowledgeable staff and great student work. I'd have to say I've learned as much from my classmates as I have from professors.
And mg33, I'd take the opportunity to go to grad school (something I'm considering myself, but it's a little much for me right now costwise) - I'd say if you show a strong portfolio and even moreso a strong desire to learn and drive, it says a lot more than grades do.
Anyways, congrats. Have a safe trip. :)

Thanks a lot guys!
CNO! you totaly made my day. Glad to hear your comments about the programm. Education or experience on Work???? i've been asking this question for the last few month. There is a big controvercy today in our field about: Is education essential today at all ???., don't you just have to go, work on the field, get experience and this is more important than education??
Many people adviced me not to go to graduate school., I recenetly spooke with one of cofounders of Razorfish., and she said that this is wasting of time and money.. I have other opinions too that recomended go to school ... this is very touching topic today and so maybe i'll make a separate thread for it..
Mg33 !! You are right ., they sure looking for people who show promise., ( and i think you got stuff to show them., just tell you moderate on flashkit-- and you are in :) ) Seriously. No GRE, grades or stuff like this., all i did is went down to NY 3 weeks ago and meet with department director.. And i am not saying i am great or anything. We just talk with him about whats going on in interactive media field (swear we talk about flashkit too).
And so i was scared why he accepted me so easy?? maybe they don't have people what is going on?..
So, the real advice i'll be able to give you only when i'll get in and see what is really going on. what i am looking for is Design!! and this school is "top" for this , and of cause like you said
>and to combine that city with school would be unreal.
NY is the city!!! just to live there is a great experience in your live!
RebbelX: did you get all those money by doing Flash?? :)
good luck to you too . I am sure you will have fun there! About Pratt, take a look at HOW -- design magazin, it is a good known school, in Design usually 1/4 studens awards in the nation--people from Pratt.
Thanks again everybody
