I would like to enable users of our Flash site to change the color of specific regions in a bitmap image (PSD, GIF, PNG or JPG file). After the edits I want to write the changes back to a user-specific database table that tracks all attributes of user interaction with our images.
Is there anyway to insert a Photoshop psd file in a Flash movie clip and maintain the channel information to select specific regions of the image? Eg. I have a cartoon that in Photoshop has a saved selection named 'skin' and I use it to switch from caucasian to African-American.
I thought about splitting the image into several GIFs and importing them separately under different names (like layers in Photoshop), but that seems like a logistic nightmare. Although it seems possible with Generator and a database link (ASP? cold fusion?).
I tried translating some samples of our artwork to vector files but the quality isn't the same and the production time is an issue (we'll have over 1000 images in our database at the end of this project). (Any batch processors for bitmap to Flash vector format?)
Any ideas?
