I hope that ambushing civilians and destroying landmarks does not become the norm in the 21st century.
I think of the Revolutionary War and how the American soldiers were unconventional in their attacking the British from behind trees and under cover, instead of in straight lines and rows, out in the open in some large field. This new kind of warfare is probably why we have our indepence today. The new warfare was successful, and is now considered acceptable by most.
I hope we can quickly respond to those responsible for these acts of terror and prove that this will NOT be the new and acceptable way to fight a war, or make some horrible point. I hope that the terrorist way of war will not be successful. I hope we will never, as a global community, feel that the targeting of the innocent is acceptable.
My heart goes out to all who mourn. I continue to be deeply sadened almost a week after the terrible event.
