Irons ... recommendations?
I'm just gettin' into this and don't wanna go with what the pro's at the shop say - they're tryin' to make a buck ... don't wanna go with what hubby says - he's partial to his Pings ... what's the latest and greatest out there?

anyway, what kind of clubs have you hit that you have liked? like maybe a set of a friends or something?
i play Cobra Gravity Backs right now but plan on buying some new Titleist's this summer...
plus, how much do you play and what would you say your skill level is? that determines a little on the "type" of club also
Hiya, Jay! Okay - well, I don't really 'play' yet ... I'm JUST learning ... I'm still in that mostly "practicing 3/4 swings" stage ... but I can hit it about 100yards on a 3/4 swing :D I just moved up to some full swing on Saturday ... Hubby says I should do all right, though - says my form is excellent! I'm very excited about it, though ... Seems to be rather stress relieving.
Hubby did recommend some "Lady Calloways", but this is the same guy who recommended me a Lady Smith so <shrugs>
Oh ... and so far, I've only played with hubby's Pings ... and he has some huge bertha's or something that I've hit with ... All I know is Pings are the irons and some chick named Bertha on the big fat ones.
yea, Callaway Golf makes good products...
they make your husbands Big Bertha's too...

Pings are nice, and if you find yourself a knowledgeable golf pro at a course, he will custom fit you and send the specs to Ping and they will make the clubs at no extra charge i believe...
in fact, the golf pro at a local course should be able to custom fit you for a variety of different club companies...
i do recommend that you hit a set of clubs (at least a demo set) before you buy them... some golf stores will let you rent a set for a day to try them out before you buy them at a pretty low cost
Although, I'm definitely not a Ping Blade fan; I would definitely suggest them. That's what my mother went with.

I've been looking at some of the newer Taylor Made drivers, as well as the 300 series Irons. But, I'm open for suggestions too.

<thumbs up on the Pings> that's what hubby did with his ... but see - now, you're doing just like he does! Well, yeah Ping does yadda yadda yadda <smack you both! ;)> I want to know what else is out there BESIDES Callaway and Ping! :) I've heard Titleist is good ... and some friends of our play with Mizzuno blades???(?), etc ... I want recommendations on something that will take me from beginner's to intermediate and last a decent long time ... I figure if I ever work up to a professional level - by dangies I'm gonna have me a sponsor and they're gonna GIVE me clubs ;)
So what's the latest good stuff goin'? :D

If you're after a driver, anything titanium is good!
I know from experience. I almost hit it onto a big road at the end of this golf range I go to. It would have been about 300 yards away.
Also like Happy Gilmore, think happy thoughts when you're about to hit the ball and not something which pi**es you off, otherwise you miss it and then get more pi**ed off. :D
I've played golf for around 10 years and nearly turned pro when I left school (not enough money in it unless your'e really good). Anyway my best mate is a pro and I've done his coursework and another friends for them so I should know my stuff.
Anyway, the best thing to do with clubs is to just go down to your local club and try out all the trial clubs. What's good for one person, might not be for another. It also depends on how good you are, and what type of shots you normally play...
