You've got 2 options.......
Illustrate (a cartoon renderer) - http://www.davidgould.com/
or Vecta-3d
They both have their problems. It might be better to consider something like Swift 3d, which can import 3ds files.

Your best bet would be to get a copy of Swift 3D. It will import .3ds files including light and paths.

Hi Folks,
I have a copy of 3DS Max and want to output in vector format to import into flash.
Are their any affordable plug-ins or alternatives I could look at for this purpose.
Thanks
I was considering the same thing for exporting from 3ds max to Flash 4, only I wasn't sure whether to go with Swift3d or Vecta3d. Does anyone know the price differencial between these two? because that would be one of the main aspects of my decision.

Well I guess I should say something down here... eh, maybe not http://www.halfordweb.com
After reading the replies I would have to ask the same question as deano, which would be the tool to use: Vectra 3D or Swift 3D.
I have no experience of either and want to start exporting 3D into Flash.
Thanks in advance.
swift 3d will give you the better looking results. really large complex 3ds files could be a problem. its about US$140 I think.
