FlashMX: wondering what the difference is between the 3...
I have a single keyframe that I place a symbol (as graphic) in. Then under the "instance of: blahSymbol", I have a choice of LOOP, Play Once, or Single Frame.
Does it matter what I choose since this symbol (as graphic) will only exist in this one keyframe? I always leave it as Loop (default).
When would I use the other options and/or is it better to use the other options ?

this is a mystery basically, i tried to find it myself, that when u got the MC which can loop, then why have those properties for the symbol, graphic?.....most of the people don use this, nor there is ne need...but i still thing that if there is this option then there is supposed to be a use...
its just like that button symbol has the four states...then why are there additional frames..that go on after the hit frame :p

There is a use!
Loop - loops all the animation sequences contained in the current INSTANCE for as many frames as the instance occupies.
Play Once - plays the animation sequence beginning from the frame specified to the end of the animation and then stops.
Single Frame - displays one frame of the animation sequence.

Hmm... animation sequence... all I did was drop a symbol in a single keyframe on the maintimeline. I guess they couldn't make that part of the properties panel go away for certain things ?

I don't understand your reply...

It's just that your response says "animation sequence" in each definition. Does it mean that if it's not an animation sequence (it's just a symbol existing in only 1 keyframe, but the 3 options still exist in the properties panel)... I won't have to worry about the 3 options ?

yeah if you have just 1 frame in your sequence, these options are basically useless! But otherwise, they do have a use!
