I am wondering if Swish modifies existing .swf files or does it just create new ones? Can you create graphics in one application (Flash, other) and add text with Swish?
Also, do the files created with Swish really not run on Macs, as some of these (unresponded to) posts suggests? That is a serious bug.

Swish creates new SWF files than can be imported into Flash and used in a larger movie.
SWF files produced by Swish *definitely* play on a Mac and can be imported into the Mac version of Flash.
SWF is a 100% portable format -- that's the whole point. A SWF produced by any program will play identically on any platform. Macromedia guarantee it!
