I downloaded all 10 sections (about 200 MB, total) from NVidia, but since this machine doesn't have an NVidia card, it won't load (it seemed to setup, but won't start)
I got it for my son, but it doesn't work here.
I got all the files, plus the setup bat, but no go.
I hope someone can tell me what I did wrong.
Don
same thing happened to me, you need a really new graphics card, im pretty sure that they only support Nvidia, but not sure
I hear aversion has been known to frag his squad leader at times.
the site is, http://americasarmy.com
Spyware for the Us gov... ;)
I haven't tried it on this tiny 56k modem... but maybe when I'm back at uni... its supposed to be quite impressive graphically.
Yeah... I have a T1 at work (or close enough for me), so it took like 20 minutes or so to get it all.
My new machine, when I get my bonus, will have the TI4400 in it, from NVidia, so I hope it works there... supposed to get the check this week.. Yeah, right...

What are your machine specs? Are you getting any sort of an error or just a no go? And did you get the latest patch?
Good GAWD - sorry about that first link I posted - I'll edit it now ...
I have pretty new video card...I think it should support cards made in the last 2 years though.
Okay..just looked. Here's the minimum specs..
32MB vid card supporting hardware T&L
T&L would be Textures and Lighting?
I HAD a 64 mb Geforce 2 that worked excellently with it, but now I have a retarded Geforce TNT2 card. :(
I haven't even bothered to try it yet on this card..it's so SLOW.
I really need to get back my Geoforce 2....I put it in another computer because of its TV out capabilities.
Anyway, the game is okay...I never got past the training levels...got a little bored.
I'll give it another try eventually.
The graphics are good...I haven't seen enough to compare them to other games though.
Clif
32mb is required? bleh. there goes any hopes of me playing it :p
looks perdy though
There goes your hopes of playing a lot of games. :D
Clif
nah, i can get away w/ older games that are still played - UT, Quake 3, half life (this runs great)Quote:

but i havent bought any pc games (except real old bargain bin ones), in a few months.
The game is incredible when you play online and with a group that likes playing as a team. The fact that it is rooted in reality makes it all the more intense. You gotta play on a network against humans, that is where the fun is at. I got a 32 mb G-force 256, it works just fine. Gotta have the latest direct X and the most recent patch. Very good and well worth the download and putting up with the bugs in the game itself.
I see...well video cards aren't that expensive...I have my eyes on a Geoforce 4, 64MB card for 60 dollars.Quote:

That'll teach 'em! :p
hey, I play this, it's the only game I do play online at the moment. It started off horribly, all the servers were down due to 'unexpected' levels of demand, yeah like thousands of people weren't going to try and play a free game that cost $7m to develop!
It's good now though, a lot of the servers are fast for me and the gameplay is better than the run around and shoot things games. Lots more strategy and team work involved, which I guess is the whole point. If you kill team members it goes on your permenant record, kill too many in one session and you get sent to jail, and you can't play for the rest of the day. People used to playing quake might be disappointed they'll actually have to think in this game, it's not for the impatient :) As an example you might not get the gun you choose, it depends on what other choices comrades have made, there's only one sniper rifle per squad, or two m60s...
I just downloaded one file, ran it and installed it. No problems, I don't know why you're downloading a bunch of different files level, there should be one complete file you can grab.
I run it on two machines, one of them is a laptop so I wouldn't worry too much about the specs, I do have a 32meg card in the laptop though it's only an p3 850. It's a nice game graphically, the animations are top notch and it's certainly on a par with any new FPS.
I was just playing the new demo of hitman2, which is a big improvement over the original and looks very sweet :D
If you download it from the nvidia website it comes as 19 files and a batch file. But I agree, you must have patience to enjoy and excel at the game.

Cool! I used the cheatcodes on the last level of the original one...I was just sick of it. :)
It was retarded. I mean...I'm sitting here with a machine gun letting everything I got into this guys head...and this stupid cuban druglord is just taunting me...made no sense. ;)
I really do need to take a closer look at the America's Army...I just wasn't wild about the training..wanted to get right down and play.
hitman ended with the attack of all the clones didn't it? After the druglord? But I agree it got tedious, this version is supposed to be more 'logical', the developers said they were aware of the first game's flaws.Quote:

check out the demo.
The training in americas army worried me too, I thought that when you shot people they were only ever going to just sit down, but once you get into the non-training games they die properly - sounds horrible I know, but I guess that's what these games are about.
