By hits he means the total number of times his site has been visited. Visitors, as in 60,000 different people have visited his site.

actually, hits also includes each and every image on a page that was viewed, so it's not a fair indication of a website's populairity

Thank you Olorin. Most people don't understand that, and think their websites are getting tons of visitors because they get thousands of hits a day.
