3D Problem
Hi,
I created a .3ds file in Zmodeler by tracing over an image, its just a basic logo. But when I export to .3ds and import into Swift 3D V3 it doesnt have bevels or anything (completely flat). You can have a look at the .3ds if you want. And if people have Zmodeler maybe they would have a look too.
I dont really know much about 3D modeling or Zmodeler.
Here are the files :
.3ds file
Zmodeler file
Its probably not modelled properly.
Heres the image

Thanks,

I just pulled that into Swift3D, and it is indeed flat. But I got an interesting error saying that not all of the information was imported correctly - first time I've EVER seen that in Swift3D.
I took that into Plasma, and it's indeed a flat file. If you are using a *.3ds file, might as well extrude it in the original program, as opposed to attempting to extrude it, which it doesn't work on *.3ds files anyway, in Swift3D.
If you want to extrude it, export as a *.ai or a vector *.eps...
cool logo, btw! :)

Ok thanks mate. I'll have a go but Im useless and 3D modeling
:smoov:
Its the logo of the Tactical Ops clan Im trialing for, there an excellent group :D
Thanks again,
Karl.

although I've never used Zmodeler *care to share a link? I've honestly never heard of it, I'd risk stating that it must be easy to just simply extrude the object, as is... just add some depth to it, then export out.
should be fine from there :)

Zmodeler is used a lot for editing cars which are in games, its very popular with GTA3 (.dff) cars and now I see it has support for Mafia. So you can edit or create your own cars for GTA3 and other games. Its ment to be very easy to use, but I never found it easy
Thanks for your help and Ill try and add some depth.
Karl.
By the way, its free :smoov:

Ok, I gave up with the .3ds file  , So instead, I downloaded a trial of Adobe Illustrator and drew over the image with that tool with the squares (proper name ?)
And it came out really nice, and from past experience, I rememeberd it produces nice 3D from a .ai file and it did!

And the link to the spinning one white desperatly needs a preloader  here
Thanks for your help have a :doughnut:

Thanks matey!
I always look in this forum and Im always amazed how Swift 3D performs. It produces some amazing results :D

how did you make that hand?? (im still new to swift)
-
The hand can easily be done in Poser or find a 3ds model of a hand. If you want an example, let me know, i'll whip one up for ya!

you might wanna try tracing the logo and exporting it as a flat .ai or .eps and then import that into swift and add the bevel within swift.
-
i would like to see an example of the hand! thanks

Heres a quick hand. Made it in poser, exported to 3ds. Then imported into swift, added the "chrome" to parts of the hand.

Poser is used to create characters. You can export to many different file formats that will import into almost anything.
