you can just right-click the image and click on Save picture as and it will tell you which :cap:
actually, a lot of IE browsers will only save as .bmp - very annoying. the author of this page hid the file types pretty well - right click on the image and select properties. the file type is unavailable, and the URL is http://www.b3ta.com/spot-the-giference/9.woo
:)
yeah... but that would spoil all the fun!!Quote:

i got 10 outta 16... not too bad i guess, usually gifs are more pixelated, right?
11 out of 16.
for gifs i was looking for color banding.
for jpegs looking for blur.
to be honest with you fellas.. i thought it was hard to tell...
9 outta 16..bleugh!

A better test would have been to have an original image (high quality jpg or png) and then have two images and you have to guess which was compressed with jpg and which with gif.
If you don't know the quality of the original then it is close to impossible to guess which way they were encoded. Esp if there are jpg files which have then been encoded as .gif files. Worst of both world.
It is a real pity that .png hasn't taken off, it has the best of both .gif and .jpeg
12/16 not bad. I was just trying to spot gif's by there pixelation.
*agrees with tupps on the .png*, I use them for a lot of graphics.
15/16, pretty cool, and didn't even do the trick to cheat
quality settings and all that other stuff matter... kin=da hard to tell just by lookin
*right-click > Images List
8/8 - kinda OK for just guessin', 'cause it's really difficult to tell the difference.
About pngs...
So this might be a stupid question, but a png in an swf will display correctly whether or not the broswer used is png-compatible, right?
9/16
Blah, I could have scored higher, it was the horrid midi files fault!
If your browser can only save as BMP... do this.... right click the image, hit properties... highlight over the URL (address) of the website... then make an html page that links to the image through text.... like this save the HTML page, run the HTML page, right click the link, and there ya go! Always works, never fails... :)Quote:
