I'm having a debate with my arch nemisis Nerdles.
He says he never had better than 2 days uptime with XP...and that he had multiple Blue Screens of Death.
So...I don't believe it.
I'm asking you to report your experience with Windows XP!

I have not had a single BSOD for about 6 or 7 months now. When Windows XP came out, yes there were many hardware incompatibilites because the drivers were not 100% certified. All that has been (hopefully) fixed now.

The machine started running slowly, Flash movie playback was really jerky, programs taking a while to switch, and so then I had to scan something and all hell broke lose - and then hell froze.
So then I rebooted and I got a 'Windows failed to launch due to allsys (I forget exactly) didn't launch properly, but then it auto'd back to the most recent backup and everything's fine.
I can't prove that there's a direct relation between the two, but it's enough of a coincidence for me. Should've rebooted to clear the RAM when I had the chance.
what is BSOD? :confused: have never had that with XP. Mmmm I miss BSOD back with 95 and 98SE.. lovely memories. :rolleyes:
to be honest, if there is a such thing as "perfect MS Operating System" then it is XP Pro -- not even Win NT or Win 2000 came close.
As far is hardware is concerned, I never noticed any difference between XP and 98SE but then again maybe I was not taking any notice.
What I did notice mainly was the speed and stablity of the operating system. Some software DO crash but at least it does not bring the whole OS to death.

i got some bsods... but i didnt update my bios, so it was my fault...

bad experiences here.
WinXP is as insecure as you can get. It's buggy. It's takes away the power of an advanced user by subjecting you to too many wizards and it ultimately sucks.
It's Windows 2000 for dummies.
Insecure. Yep. I've provided links in the past... poor Raw Sockets implementation, firewall is about as weak as drugstore cotton balls, and there are more TCP/IP stack exploits in it than I've ever seen in an OS.
Oh, and Nerdles... if you're reading. Damn shame you left, but never left. WTF?

The battle over NerdInsides true relationship with FlashKit.com (a popular flash resource site) heated up once again, with new accusations from local moderator "Gerbick".
According to Gerbick "It's like he left...but never left. What the [expletive]?!".
"Go tell Gerbick that I did leave", Nerdles said Monday...hinting disgust.
He defended his actions saying "Does that mean I can't browse the forum from time to time?".
He also added that we "must break down the barriers of linux intolerance" with solemn face he continued "hate is what holds this world back. Release the hate, and embrace love!".

I found XP very stable...only very old (and I meen 10yr old) games I had troulbe with (then again, I think I would have trouble with them in 98 as well).
